Man connected to 17 vehicle burglaries arrested

Thibodaux Chief of Police Scott Silverii announced the arrest of two after they were caught burglarizing unlocked vehicles at an apartment complex in the 800 Block of Ridgefield Road.

Landon Johnson (B/M, 18, 122 Truman Circle Apartment 31 in Thibodaux) and a Juvenile (information being withheld due to age) were each initially charged with two (2) counts of Vehicle Burglary. Johnson received an additional charge of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile due to his age and the age of the Juvenile, and the Juvenile was also charged with a Curfew Violation.

Around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 25th, Police were called when a group of males were seen pulling on door handles of cars in an apartment complex. All of the males fled the area, but not before breaking into a blue Toyota Corolla and a gray Jeep – nothing was reported missing from those vehicles. Police spotted the group running in the area of Washington Street, and gave chase – catching Johnson and the Juvenile.

Through investigation, Police were able to connect fifteen (15) other vehicle burglaries to Johnson that happened over the previous weeks. One of which a vehicle was stolen, but later recovered by Police when they spotted the vehicle, the suspect fled on foot, and another where a gun was stolen out of an off duty Sheriff Deputy’s unit.

In total, Johnson is being charged with seventeen (17) counts of Vehicle Burglary, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Theft of a Firearm, and three (3) counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile. Johnson’s total bond is $155,250.00. The investigation is ongoing.
