St. Mary police report 10/15/13

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff’s Office responded to 43 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Jose Lopez, 41, 7429 Lonpon Loop, Houston, TX was arrested on October 14, 2013 at 3:15 pm for theft of goods. After responding to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista, a deputy learned from employees that Lopez was seen attempting to leave the store without paying for items. Lopez was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $1,000.

De’von E. Marsh, 21, 1048 Ciro Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on October 14, 2013 at 6:48 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery. A deputy located Marsh at his residence on the warrant. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Juanita Hines, 50, 1272 Big Four Corners Road, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on October 14, 2013 at 12:58 pm on a warrant for simple assault. A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign on Big Four corners Road at LA Hwy. 318. The deputy made contact with the driver who was identified as Hines. During the traffic stop investigation, the deputy conducted a warrants check and learned of the active warrant for Hines’ arrest. The warrant stems from an investigation into a complaint of an assault that took place on Cypremort Road in July. Hines threatened two subjects with a knife. Hines was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. She was released on a $250 bond.

Bonnie Martin, 57, Bayou Side RV Park Lot #4, Centerville, LA was arrested on October 14, 2013 at 9:47 pm for simple battery.

Wilson A. Swarts, 66, 3700 S. Westport Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD was arrested on October 14, 2013 at 9:47 pm for simple battery.

A deputy responded to a complaint of a battery at Bayou Side RV Park. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Martin and Swarts committed a battery upon each other. According to a witness Martin and Swarts had been involved in a previous altercation. Both were transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Martin and Swarts were each released on a $500 bond.

Brian Weston, 25, 2622 Fifth Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on October 14, 2013 at 9:01 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of speeding and driving under suspension. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area conducted a traffic stop and made contact with a passenger identified as Weston. During the investigation, the deputy learned of the active warrant for Weston’s arrest. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $3,500.

Melissa Frangenberg, 46, 8800 Highway 182, Amelia, LA was arrested on October 14, 2013 at 10:59 pm for unauthorized use of a moveable. A deputy conducted an investigation into a complaint of a vehicle that was taken by Frangenberg without the owner’s permission. The deputy located the missing vehicle on Highway 182 in Amelia. As the vehicle approached, the driver saw the deputy and attempted to drive away. The deputy stopped the vehicle and confirmed that the driver was Frangenberg. She was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Larosa Washington, 58, Odile Street Lot #23, Amelia, LA was arrested on October 15, 2013 at 12:16 am for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of theft at a casino in Amelia. Upon arrival, the deputy learned that Washington took money from the bar. The deputy located Washington and after further investigation placed him under arrest. Washington was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $1,000.

Tessie Frederick, 45, 105 Easy Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on October 15, 2013 at 1:30 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of speeding. A deputy conducted a traffic stop on Parish Road 131 in Centerville after witnessing a vehicle travel off the side of the roadway and then over the centerline. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Frederick. During the traffic stop investigation, the deputy learned that Frederick held an active warrant for her arrest. She was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set $349.50.

The following arrest was made on October 13, 2013:
Rand P. Metrejean, Jr., 48, 122 West Side Park, Amelia, LA was arrested on October 13, 2013 at 9:49 am on a warrant from Morgan City Police Department for failure to appear to pay probation fee. A deputy investigating a single vehicle crash in Amelia made contact with the driver, identified as Metrejean. The deputy learned that Metrejean held an active warrant for his arrest from MCPD. Metrejean was transported to MCPD.

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:

Osham Geovany Reyes Flores, 31, 825 Magnolia Street, Amelia, LA was arrested on October 15, 2013 at 4:37 am on the following charges:

  • Possession of Schedule I (psilocybin) with intent to distribute
  • Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)
  • Transactions involving drug proceeds
  • License plate light required
  • No driver’s license

A detective with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division conducted a traffic stop on Highway 182 in Siracusaville after observing a vehicle without a working license plate light. The detective made contact with the driver who was identified as Flores. During the course of the traffic stop investigation, the detective received consent to search the vehicle and located a suspected psilocybin mushroom. Through further inquiry, the detective learned that Flores intended to distribute the illegal substance. Cash totaling $1,788 was also located. The vehicle and U.S. currency was seized pending forfeiture. Flores was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
