According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff’s Office responded to 45 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Carla A. Rome, 52, 1005 Susan Court, Stephensville, LA was arrested on April 24, 2014 at 10:53 am at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City for obstruction of justice and intimidating a witness. Detectives assigned to investigate a case involving a juvenile victim repeatedly ordered Rome to not have any contact with the victim or the victim’s family.
During that investigation, detectives received information that Rome was attempting to speak with the juvenile victim. According to multiple witnesses, Rome approached the victim in a threatening manner and began demanding that the victim answer questions regarding the ongoing investigation. Rome was transported to the parish jail for booking and was later released after posting a $50,000 bond. A picture of Rome is included.
Demitrice Edmond, 46, 141 Ernies Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 24, 2014 at 11:27 am on a warrant through the Franklin Police Department for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. A deputy located Edmond at her residence on the warrant. Edmond was transported to the parish jail for booking and was later released on a $2,500 bond.
Ingrid L. Brown, 29, 208 Monarch Drive, Houma, LA was arrested on April 24, 2014 at 1:58 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple criminal damage to property. Brown turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville after learning of the warrant for her arrest. Brown was released on a $3,000 bond.
Lindsey Freeman, 31, 724 Prairie Road North, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 24, 2014 at 2:50 pm for simple battery. A deputy responded to a residence on Highway 87 in Charenton in reference to a complaint of a battery. The deputy received information that the subject who committed the battery had left the residence in a vehicle. The deputy located the vehicle and requested that the occupants return to the residence. Following an investigation the deputy learned that Freeman and a female subject had been arguing throughout the day. The verbal altercations escalated into a physical encounter when Freeman punched the female victim in the face. Freeman was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Atlas J. White, 22, 1352 Oil Tank Alley, Morgan City, LA was arrested on April 24, 2014 at 8:55 pm on a warrant for aggravated rape and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. On the morning of Wednesday, April 16, 2014, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received information from a local hospital regarding a possible rape victim who was being treated in the emergency room. Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division determined that the 16 year old female victim was beaten and raped the previous night at a residence in Amelia. Detectives identified White, a person the victim knew, as the suspect in the crime.
White is also accused of entering the home without permission. Detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest on the charges listed above. After developing information that White was actively evading arrest and was no longer staying in St. Mary Parish, the detective assigned to the case contacted the U.S. Marshalls Office to request assistance in locating him. U.S. Marshalls located White in New Iberia. White was subsequently taken into custody on the warrant and turned over to deputies for booking and incarceration. No bond is set. Tyraneka Lane, 19, 187 Mallard Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on April 25, 2014 at 12:41 am for domestic abuse battery and disturbing the peace (offensive/foul language).
Christian Garrett, 27, 187 Mallard Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on April 25, 2014 at 12:41 am for domestic abuse battery and remaining where forbidden.
Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in progress at a residence on Vista Village Lane in Bayou Vista. During the course of the investigation, deputies learned that girlfriend and boyfriend, Lane and Garrett, committed a battery upon each other during an argument. Lane repeatedly yelled foul language at deputies and Garrett. Deputies also discovered that Garrett was at the location after being banned from the property. Both were transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:
Heidi M. Miller, 26, 640 Terrebonne Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on April 24, 2014 at 4:53 pm on a warrant for the following charges:
– Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
– Possession of drug paraphernalia
– Possession of Schedule IV (Xanax)
– Possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor
– Violation of a CDS law (drug free zone)
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division Detectives went to the above listed address in an effort to locate Miller on an active warrant for arrest. Miller was located at the residence. She was transported to parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
