Terrebonne Parish Library wins the Upstart Library Innovation Award

The Terrebonne Parish Library won the Upstart Library Innovation Award from the Public Library Association. This is a national award given for innovative and creative library services. The award was given for the Future Leaders of America’s Gulf (FLAG), which is a library-based multimedia program that facilities teen participation in investigating the environmental, economic, and community issues that affect Terrebonne Parish and the Gulf Coast.

FLAG members have two monthly segments on HTV, are working with the PBS Student Reporting Lab, and filming an anti-littering campaign for the parish. The group has won the Louisiana Wildlife Federation’s Conservation Achievement Award (2010), the President’s Environmental Youth Award (2010) and the EPA Gulf Guardian Award (2011).
